My Story
One of the most haunting memories from my childhood is finding out that my parents were one of the only local families that did help build the neighborhood wooden playground (in their defense they were attending a funeral).

My poor parents, I was only 7 years old but for some reason it bothered me and I let them know about it.  I could not for the life of me understand how they would have missed the opportunity to put something in place that would be enjoyed by generations to come (it was a pressure treated wooden playground that was torn down right around my 21st birthday due to safety concerns).  Anyways- that’s where my passion for construction began.`

When I was 14 I landed my first job at a Building Inspection company and worked my way up to Radon Testing Inspector by the time I was 19.  From there I attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and while my classmates were sleeping in I landed myself a sweet internship at a commercial construction company.

Unfortunately my construction management career took a little but of a hit when I began looking for full time employment during the height of the last great recession.  Unfortunately (or fortunately) I took the only commercial construction job I could find working for a general contractor renovating a wastewater treatment facility.  Yes me and my college degree spend two years lugging my transit & level around in 6” of poop ensuring that the skilled tradesman (who were making at least twice as much as me) installed their work properly.

From there I made the mistake (or great decision) of telling the company that I was interview with (a company who consistently won low bid projects) that I was willing to do anything to become a project manager.  Well from there I spent two years as an Assistant Project Manager, Assistant Estimator, Scheduler & Assistant Superintendent working 10 to 12 hours a day.  It was there I finally had my first taste of running a job from start to finish (albeit in many different rolls)- a 100,000 SF+ high school.

Finally I was fortunate enough to gain employment with a top ENR  Contractor and I have been running projects for them ranging from $20MM to $40MM since 2014.

So what am I doing here- why am I blogging and begging for your business?  Well my two  favorite part about the construction industry are resolving (or better yet preventing) problems and sharing this knowledge with others.  Ergo I figured- if the Empire State Building can be built in a year I might as well give creating my dream job a shot!
